With our strategically located pits and quarries, our unmatched fleet of trucks and heavy equipment, our state‑of‑the‑art facilities, and our dedicated employees, Thomas Cavanagh Construction has earned a reputation as one of Ottawa’s most trusted and respected contractors.
Overview: The Data Analyst supports the Organizational Change Manager (OCM) and the broader digital transformation initiative by building reports, dashboards, and data views for business leaders and teams across Thomas Cavanagh Construction, using the Palantir Foundry ontology built and maintained by Cavtera. This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role suited to someone strong in business intelligence, data querying, and communicating insights across all levels of the organization.
Requests that can be met using existing ontology objects — reports, dashboards, and data views — are handled directly by this role. Requests that require creating, modifying, or removing foundational ontology objects are routed to Cavtera for build. As the digital transformation function grows, this role offers the prospect to take on broader reporting and analytics responsibilities over time.
Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting & Dashboard Development Build reports, dashboards, and data views within the Palantir Foundry ontology, using objects already created by Cavtera
Translate requests from business leaders and teams into clear, usable reports and dashboards
Maintain and update existing reports and dashboards as business needs evolve
Ensure reports and dashboards are accurate, well‑organized, and easy for end users to interpret
Data Analysis & BI Support Query and analyze data across the ontology and connected data sources to answer stakeholder questions

Identify data quality issues, gaps, or inconsistencies and flag them to Cavtera
Support ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from business leaders and operational teams
Apply BI and database best practices to keep reports and dashboards reliable and maintainable
Cross‑Functional Collaboration Serve as the day‑to‑day point of contact for developers, business leaders, and end users on approved reporting work, with new requests coming through the OCM
Gather and clarify reporting requirements from stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Work closely with the Cavtera team to understand ontology structure and available objects
Communicate reporting timelines, limitations, and options clearly to stakeholders
Scope Awareness & Escalation Assess incoming requests to determine whether they can be met with existing ontology objects or require ontology changes
Route requests that would create, modify, or remove foundational ontology objects to the Change Management Priorities list for further assessment
Escalate reporting risks, data issues, or unresolved stakeholder needs to the OCM
Support the OCM in maintaining a clear view of reporting and dashboard requests across the organization
Requirements: 1-3 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, data analysis, or database‑related work
Strong working knowledge of SQL and comfort querying structured data to investigate business questions and produce reporting outputs

Experience working with relational data, databases, or business intelligence platforms
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to take an unclear business question and determine what information is needed to answer it
Clear, professional communication skills, with the ability to explain data and reporting concepts to non‑technical audiences
Personable and collaborative, comfortable interacting with developers, business leaders, and employees at all levels
Comfort working with ambiguity and evolving processes
Experience in the construction industry is an asset
Exposure to Palantir Foundry, including tools such as Workshop, Quiver, or Contour, is an asset but not required; training will be provided on the job
Cavanagh Employee Benefits: Family oriented work environment
Attractive, competitive compensation for qualified candidates
Internal growth opportunities
Training and development opportunities
Benefit, Wellness and Pension Plans
Wage Range: The salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $65K and $90K per year. However, the range offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to the classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.
