Become a key player in Indigenous education as an Itinerant Cultural and Instructional Facilitator for Simcoe County District School Board. The role involves supporting FNMI students and fostering cultural understanding.
This temporary secondment position, beginning in September 2026, requires a qualified teacher committed to advancing Indigenous practices in schools. Collaborating closely with classroom educators, you will help develop resources and implement culturally relevant curriculum aimed at enhancing student learning experiences. Your role will also include community collaboration to ensure authenticity in educational content.
Key Responsibilities:
• Promote intercultural awareness within schools
• Support well-being initiatives for FNMI students
• Connect families and schools as a liaison
• Assist in monitoring student engagement and progress
• Plan cultural activities with school staff
Requirements:
• Must identify with First Nations, Métis, or Inuit ancestry
• Possess an Ontario Teacher’s Certificate
• Familiarity with Indigenous community challenges
• Experience in reconciliation and support practices
• Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
