Lifeguard & Swim Instructor (Full Time) Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton Salary: $34,112.00/yr - $42,757.00/yr Start Date: Immediately

What qualifications are we looking for? At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidates will have the following;
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor will have: National Lifeguard - Pool certification
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
YMCA Swim Instructor or Swim for Life Instructor certification
Lifesaving Instructor would be considered an asset
Should be able to work morning, evening, and weekend shifts
Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search
Three qualified references

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary? Lifeguards and Swim Instructors will:
Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures
Demonstrate exceptional customer service
Are knowledgeable of YMCA programs and services
Complete administrative tasks, update class rosters, lesson plans, check equipment, clean equipment, perform light maintenance tasks when not guarding or instructing
Perform all scheduled water tests
Keep pool area clean and organized




Respond to emergencies according to National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures
Work as a team; communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and members in all situations.
Attend all scheduled in-services
Attend all necessary YMCA training
