About the Role Our client is looking for a skilled Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to maintain their fleet of vital equipment at Kimberley Airport. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational readiness of all ground support machinery, including baggage tugs, belt loaders, aircraft stairs, and air-condition units, which are essential for efficient airport operations. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep the GSE fleet in optimal condition, contributing directly to the smooth functioning of airside activities. This is a hands‑on position for a mechanic who enjoys problem‑solving and working in a dynamic aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all Ground Support Equipment (GSE) according to manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in GSE and perform necessary repairs.
Conduct thorough inspections of GSE to identify potential issues and ensure safety compliance.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and repair histories.
Operate a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment to service and repair machinery.
Ensure that all GSE operations adhere to safety regulations and airport operational procedures.
Requirements Proven experience as a mechanic, with a focus on heavy machinery, automotive, or specialized equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills, with experience in hydraulics and basic electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
Valid driver's license, with the ability to obtain an airport driver's permit.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather conditions.
