Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Facilities and working closely with our Senior Director, Site Lead, the Senior Facilities Specialist will be responsible for all facilities maintenance and contracting. This position will coordinate internal work orders, maintenance requests, general renovations and coordinate external contractors as required. This role will report on site to our Bedford, NS office.

As Senior Facilities Specialist, your main responsibilities will include:

Perform a variety of facility related tasks in the areas of preventive and general building maintenance, carpentry, equipment construction, and courier or locksmith duties

Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget

Follow written work instructions.

Must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools and equipment (WHMIS)

Proper use of required PPE

May participate in LEAN Events, “Six S” activities, action teams, etc

Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission,



values and culture of the organization

Assist management with special projects and assignments as requested

What you require to be successful in the role:

8+ years of experience in maintenance/utility work or any combination of training and/or experience that will allow the incumbent to perform listed duties

Thorough understanding of general job aspects and moderate understanding of the detailed aspects of the job; knowledge of electrical, mechanical and building construction trades, skilled in operating applicable equipment

Experience support commercial/industrial environments
Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, access control, fire/life safety) and how to troubleshoot/escalate issues appropriately

Vendor/Contractor management capabilities - including creating scopes of work, obtaining quotes, monitoring service levels and managing renewals

Strong communication and customer service mindset - able to work effectively with employees, leadership, vendors and internal partners

Excellent organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail (work orders, logs, compliance records, asset lists, invoices and purchase orders)

Project Coordination Skills - able to manage timelines, budgets, stakeholders, and communicate progress for moves/changes and minor capital work
