Duties

Oversee and ensure the quality and integrity of the foundation DND spatial data for the digital built environment, support data acquisition and validation activities, as well as provide information services to real property (RP) stakeholders

Support and advise on the technical implementation of a modern spatial data environment based on the principals of open data.

Create RP technical standards and guides, and log / develop business requirements

Support the deployment of specialized spatial application needed for RP information management

In line with Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) direction, the Department of National Defence has adopted a common hybrid work model where employees work at their designated worksite at least 4 days each week, or 80% of their regular schedule. Some positions may require full-time on-site presence.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff two (2) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis.



A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

You need (essential for the job)
EDUCATION

Successful completion of a post-secondary program in a geomatics-related technology field, such as, but not limited to:

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technology

Architectural Technology

Civil Engineering Technology

Or another specialty relevant to the position being staffed

An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or work experience may also be considered. *Acceptable combination is defined as completion of secondary school and ten (10) years' work experience in a related field.

EXPERIENCE

Experience creating and editing building and geomatics data at a national/corporate level (vice local), supporting an enterprise system of record

Experience using Microsoft 365 software and spatial software suites (such as GIS - Geographic Information System, CAD - Computer Aided Design, BIM - Building Information Modeling, etc.)

Experience using or applying open geospatial standards

Experience providing engineering support services for managing horizontal assets throughout their life cycle

Experience documenting Business Requirements and converting these requirements into an effective project action plan

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) or Technologue Professionnel (T.P.) Designation

Certified Technician (C. Tech) Designation

Project Management Certificate (PMP)

ASSET EXPERIENCE

Experience using cloud-based collaboration platforms (such as Autodesk Construction Cloud or ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Enterprise) and tools (such as BIM 360 documents)

Experience working with the Real Property Spatial Data Warehouse system of record
