About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Energy Policy Advisor to contribute to shaping the future of energy in Kimberley and the Northern Cape region. This role involves researching, analyzing, and advising on energy policies, regulations, and market developments to support sustainable energy initiatives and strategic planning. You will work closely with government bodies, industry stakeholders, and internal teams to develop recommendations that foster growth in renewable energy and ensure energy security. The ideal candidate possesses a robust understanding of energy markets, policy frameworks, and the socio-economic implications of energy decisions. This is a critical advisory position aimed at influencing positive change in the South African energy landscape .
Key Responsibilities Analyze current and proposed energy policies, regulations, and legislation at national and regional levels.
Conduct research on energy market trends, technological advancements, and best practices globally.
Provide expert advice and recommendations on policy development to support renewable energy targets and energy security.
Engage with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other stakeholders to advocate for favorable energy policies.
Prepare policy briefs, reports,
and presentations for senior management and external audiences.
Assess the potential impact of policy changes on the company's operations and strategic objectives.
Requirements Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics, Law, Environmental Studies, or a related field with a focus on energy.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy policy analysis, government relations, or regulatory affairs within the energy sector .
In-depth knowledge of South African energy policy, market structures, and regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
