Job Purpose: We are seeking a detail-oriented Finance Specialist - Revenue Operations to support the organization's donation revenue cycle, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of donations, while supporting internal controls, process improvements, and financial operations across the organization. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for Islamic Relief Canada's finances.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Donation Revenue Management: Record and reconcile donation revenues accurately and within established service-level timelines
Manage the end-to-end donation revenue cycle, ensuring donations are accurately categorized, recorded, reconciled, and reported
Perform daily and monthly reconciliations between fundraising platforms, payment processors, banking records, and the accounting system




Support the preparation, reconciliation, and review of charitable tax receipting processes to ensure compliance with CRA requirements
Work collaboratively within the finance team and across departments to support organizational objectives
Investigate and resolve donation discrepancies in collaboration with the Fundraising, Donor Care, Technology, and other teams
Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
Financial Data Accuracy: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data in the organization's ERP system
Participate in month-end and year-end close activities
Prepare and post journal entries
Support audit readiness by maintaining complete and organized supporting documentation
Support department leaders by analyzing trends, variances, and exceptions in donation revenue and financial data
Develop ad hoc financial analyses to support decision-making
Systems and Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and data accuracy
Prepare, maintain, and update documentation and training materials (SOPs) for financial processes and procedures
Assist with system testing, implementation, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for enhancements to systems as needed
Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with CRA charity regulations
Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial and operational controls




Assist with periodic reviews of revenue-related processes to identify risks and control gaps
Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and delegated authorities
Assist with the preparation of supporting documentation and participation in internal audit, external audit, and compliance review activities
Qualifications & Competencies: Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
1-3 years of relevant accounting/finance experience
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, working papers, and financial analyses
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with donor management systems, CRM platforms, fundraising software, or ERP/accounting systems considered an asset.
Pursuing a CPA designation or CPA student is considered an asset
Experience in a charitable, nonprofit, or humanitarian organization is an asset
Knowledge of ASNPO and CRA charity reporting requirements is an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Highly detail-oriented

Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
Well-organized, and able to work well in a team environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Hybrid Work Policy: IRC has a hybrid mode where in-office requirements are based on distance from our Burlington headquarters or a regional
