Empower individuals with mental illness as a Recreation Therapist at the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Implement and coordinate therapeutic recreation programs to support recovery and well-being within a 100-bed Secure Treatment Unit.
This role requires a passionate Recreation Therapist with expertise in responsible mental illness and recreational programming. You will develop client-centered recreation services, assess patient needs, and create engaging therapeutic programs that enhance leisure activities. Collaboration with interdisciplinary care teams is essential to ensure quality management and high standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement therapeutic recreation programs tailored to patient needs
• Develop and execute policies for recreation services
• Work with care teams to improve management activities
• Assess patients and create individual recreation plans
• Facilitate community links for patient activities post-discharge
Requirements:
• Degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or related field
• Experience with severe mental illness and substance use disorders
• Ability to plan and lead evidence-based therapy programs
• Background in hospital or interdisciplinary settings
• Membership in Therapeutic Recreation Ontario is an asset
