Duties
Operate the automated co-collection truck and/or manual side tipper truck (Shupak) as directed by the Waste Management Supervisor
Conduct pre and post inspection checks and perform routine maintenance on the equipment in accordance with approved check list and maintenance programs
Ensure that equipment is kept in clean condition as required and report any malfunction
Conduct daily washing/cleaning of equipment
Ensure that the equipment is operated in a safe, efficient, effective and responsible manner, in accordance with all Legislation, and Department Standard Operating Procedures
Report any non-conformances, hazards or operational problems associated with the operation
Maintain accurate records of works undertaken and communicate by two-way radio to update status and issues of the daily operation
Perform other duties as assigned by the Waste Management Supervisor
Qualifications
Grade 12 diploma
Applicant must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, Class “DZ”
Must be familiar and knowledgeable in the operating and servicing functions of the Automated Co-Collection Truck and the Manual Side Tipper Truck (Shupak)
Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions, and abide by all safety regulations with an excellent safety record in the operation of equipment
Good knowledge of names and locations of City streets is necessary
Good knowledge of the City waste management system
Current and transparent Driver’s Abstract required
