General Labourer – Job Description

Position Summary

The General Labourer is responsible for supporting day-to-day shop and production activities. This position involves assisting tradespeople and production staff, handling materials, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and completing general labour tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with general shop and production activities.
- Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with preparation of parts and materials for production.
- Support blasting, painting, coating, masking, cleaning, and other shop activities as required.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely.
- Clean and maintain work areas, equipment, and shop facilities.
- Assist with packaging, material handling, and preparation of completed products for shipment.
- Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or quality concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist other departments and employees as required.
- Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and repetitive work.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications

- Previous experience with Teflon coating or painting is considered an asset.




- Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or coating setting is an asset.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain regular attendance.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools is an asset.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial workplace.
- Valid driver's licence is an asset.

Working Conditions

- Industrial shop and production environment.
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Required to wear appropriate PPE, which may include safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, and protective clothing.
