Our client, a growing civil contractor in the Lower Mainland, BC, specializes in civil infrastructure, site services, utilities, excavation, and shoring projects. They are seeking a Site Superintendent to lead field delivery on a variety of public and private infrastructure projects ranging from $1M–$5M and contribute to the continued success of their expanding team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day field operations across civil infrastructure, site servicing, utility, excavation, and shoring projects.
- Lead pre-construction planning, site mobilization, work sequencing, and project close-out.
- Coordinate foremen, field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, trucking, inspections, and site logistics to meet schedule and budget targets.
- Oversee underground utility installations, excavation, trenching, shoring, dewatering, backfill, compaction, grading, and general civil construction activities.
- Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, and subcontractor scopes to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Work closely with Project Managers on scheduling, change events, RFIs, quantity tracking, cost control, and the resolution of field issues.
- Implement and uphold company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures across all job sites.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to resolve conflicts and keep work progressing.
- Mentor and provide leadership to foremen and field crews while fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Oversee deficiency completion, final inspections, and turnover documentation at project close-out.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Site Superintendent or senior field leader in heavy civil construction.
- Strong experience with civil infrastructure, underground utilities, excavation, shoring, and site servicing projects.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and active work areas.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, profiles, shop drawings, and construction schedules.
- Experience developing look-ahead schedules, planning manpower, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate field documentation.
- Strong safety leadership and a proven ability to promote safe work practices across active construction sites.
- Ability to build productive relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites across the Lower Mainland as required.
