POSITION SUMMARY:

MasTec Purnell is currently accepting resumes for a Pipeline Coater for field based projects near Grande Prairie.

Preference will be given to candidates LOCAL to Grande Prairie and surrounding areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Cleanse products to remove dust, dirt, and debris




- Apply protective coatings to articles or areas that could be damaged or stained by work processes
- Dip metal parts in chemical baths to prepare surface
- Prepare surfaces also by scraping, caulking, applying putty, and sanding
- Perform skilled abrasive blasting and coatings tasks
- Implement quality requirements in accordance with company procedures, and contract requirements
- Utilize brush, roller, and airless spray pumps to coat and paint metal substrates.
- Check product for flaws or imperfections
- Familiar with the application of industrial Epoxy & Urethane paint systems
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum one year of previous experience with industrial coatings
- Familiar with spraying and sandblasting equipment
- Valid H2S, WHIMIS, First Aid, or other industry-standard safety tickets
- NACE certification is an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Purnell's 6 Core Values
- Valid Class 5 driver's license is required
- Ability to identify and report hazards
- Robust interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read data sheets, read paint codes, mix/thin oil based paints, shoot primer, and maintain and clean all spray gun parts
- Ability to adjust mixing criteria based upon environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, and humidity
- In depth knowledge of procedures, equipment, regulations, and guidelines
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required
- Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, twist, and bend for extended periods of time
- Ambitious, pro-active, high-energy, positive attitude and a team player
