Supportive Roommate – Wheelchair-Accessible Home

Calgary Progressive Lifestyles Foundation (CPLF) is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and community-minded individual to join our team as a Supportive Roommate in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate must have a wheelchair-accessible home suitable for an adult with a disability.

About the Role

As a Supportive Roommate, you will provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive home environment for an adult woman with a disability who enjoys music, movies, and dancing.

You will work directly with the individual to support her participation in recreational and social activities, encourage personal growth and community involvement, and promote her overall well-being, independence, and quality of life.

Our mission is to support individuals with disabilities in engaging with their communities while promoting independence, fulfillment, and autonomy.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

- Own or have access to a wheelchair-accessible home in Calgary, AB
- The bedroom must be located on the main level




- The home must have a walk-in/roll-in accessible shower
- Be a compassionate, empathetic, patient, and dependable individual
- Have a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past two years
- Previous experience supporting people with disabilities or working in the disability services field is an asset
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Have access to a reliable vehicle
- If hired, maintain $2 million in third-party liability vehicle insurance
- Hold a valid First Aid Level C certification within three months of hiring
- If hired, maintain General Commercial Liability Insurance

Training Provided

CPLF will provide the following training, at cost, as required for the position:

- Medication Administration Training
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Training
- Abuse Protocol Training
- Positive Behaviour Support Training

Home Inspection

Please note that a home inspection will be conducted to confirm that the candidate’s home meets the accessibility and suitability requirements of the individual being supported before the application proceeds to the next stage.
