Overview
We are seeking a Supply Chain Assistant to join our foundry operations team. This is a hands-on support role assisting with production planning, raw material purchasing, supplier follow-up, and inbound/outbound logistics in a heavy manufacturing environment. Working under the direction of the Supply Chain Supervisor, you will help keep day-to-day supply chain activity moving across the plant and build broad, practical experience across the function.

Duties

Production Planning

- Create and issue work orders based on sales order entry.
- Maintain and update the planning tool based on actual production runs.
- Assist in preparing and updating production schedules aligned with customer orders, foundry capacity, and material availability.
- Maintain data accuracy in the ERP/MRP system, including job orders, lead times, and planning parameters.
- Support demand forecasting by compiling historical data and flagging trends or capacity concerns to the supervisor.

Shipping & Receiving

- Coordinate inbound shipments of raw materials (scrap metal, alloys, sand, binders, etc.); verify quantities, and process receipts in the ERP system.
- Prepare and process outbound shipments of finished castings, including packing lists, bills of lading, and customs documentation as required.
- Maintain the shipping/receiving dock area in compliance with safety and 5S standards.

Purchasing & Supplier Support

- Enter and track purchase orders for raw materials, consumables, and outside services; follow up with suppliers on open orders and delivery dates.
- Track supplier delivery and quality performance and escalate recurring issues to the supervisor.




- Monitor inventory levels of critical materials and alert the supervisor when items approach reorder points.
- Match receipts, packing slips, and invoices, and help resolve discrepancies with suppliers and accounts payable.

General Supply Chain Support

- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, or lead time reductions.
- Assist with sourcing activities such as obtaining quotes and maintaining the supplier database.
- Prepare supply chain KPI reports (on-time delivery, inventory levels) using Excel or ERP reporting tools.
- Support cross-functional projects with engineering, quality, and production teams.

Qualifications

- 1-2 years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, planning, logistics, or a related administrative role; manufacturing experience an asset.
- Diploma Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas; pivot tables and lookups an asset).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and follow through in a rapid-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills; able to work effectively with both office and production staff.
- Exposure to import/export documentation or customs compliance.
- Exposure to an ERP/MRP system.
- Knowledge of foundry, casting, or metals manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
