Job Overview
Reporting directly to the FSQA Manager, the FSQA Specialist serves as a technical coordinator and system administrator for our high-volume tortilla manufacturing facility. This role bridges technical compliance with daily shop-floor execution, supporting the FSQA Manager in maintaining plant-wide food safety and quality programs. You will maintain HACCP documentation, execute internal audits, lead root-cause investigations, coordinate environmental monitoring, deliver employee training, and provide day-to-day technical support to QA Technicians. The role actively supports external FSSC 22000 audits, customer audits, and CFIA inspections under the direction of the Manager. High adaptability is required. You will step in flexibly across lab testing, floor inspections, administrative tasks, and emergent production needs.

HACCP Maintenance & Annual Reassessments: Act as HACCP Coordinator and key technical contributor on the Food Safety Team. Lead the annual HACCP/Food Safety System reassessment, update hazard analyses, coordinate meeting schedules, and update documentation to ensure alignment with FSSC 22000.
Quality Systems & Document Control: Administer the site Document Control Program. Ensure routine updates, revision control, distribution, and archival of SOPs, forms, and product specifications. Track completion of scheduled QA tasks and perform routine record verification for accuracy and timeliness.
Investigations, Root Cause Analysis & CAPA: Under the direction of the FSQA Manager, drive cross-functional root-cause investigations (5-Why, Fishbone) for consumer complaints, hold occurrences, out-of-spec products, and environmental hits. Manage CAPA log tracking and verify corrective action completion.
Auditing,
Inspections & Operational Liaison: Execute internal audit schedules, monthly plant-wide GMP walkthroughs, and Glass/Brittle Plastic surveys. Assist the Manager during external FSSC 22000 audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections. Serve as a practical FSQA contact for Production, Warehousing, Sanitation, and Maintenance.
Sanitation & Environmental Monitoring (EMP): Administer the plant Environmental Monitoring Program (microbiological swabbing, air sampling). Partner with Sanitation and Maintenance on pre-operational checks, line clearances, and hygiene controls.
Training & Food Safety Culture: Deliver plant onboarding and annual refresher training (GMPs, HACCP, Allergen Management, hygiene, food defense) for site personnel. Maintain training records and help evaluate effectiveness.
Other Duties: Perform other related technical support duties as assigned by the FSQA Manager.

Experience: 3–5 years of QA/QC experience in food manufacturing (bakery, flatbread, or tortilla experience preferred). Experience assisting with GFSI (FSSC 22000, SQF, BRCGS) audits.
Certifications: HACCP, PCQI, Internal Auditor, or FSSC 22000 training preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of SFCR, FSMA, GMPs, HACCP principles, FSSC 22000 standards, environmental swabbing protocols, and allergen controls.
