Job Summary
TipTop Carriers Ltd. is seeking a skilled and motivated Semi-Truck & Trailer Technician to join our maintenance team in Regina, Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of heavy-duty trucks and trailers to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and compliant with all applicable safety standards.
This is a hands-on position suited for an experienced heavy-duty technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, preventative maintenance, and keeping commercial vehicles safely on the road.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on semi-trucks, tractors, and trailers.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, air, hydraulic, suspension, steering, braking, and drivetrain systems.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, cooling systems, exhaust and after-treatment systems.
- Inspect, repair, and replace components including brakes, wheel-end assemblies, bearings, hubs, suspension components, air bags, air lines, and valves.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems, including wiring, sensors, lighting, batteries, charging systems, and diagnostic fault codes.
- Perform trailer repairs, including doors, floors, landing gear, suspension, brakes, lighting, air systems, and other trailer components.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety issues before they result in breakdowns.
- Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform emergency and roadside repairs when required to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Complete repair orders, inspection reports, maintenance records, and documentation accurately.
- Ensure all repairs are completed according to company procedures and applicable provincial and federal safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate with dispatch and management regarding vehicle condition, required repairs, parts, and estimated downtime.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Heavy-Duty Truck Technician, Truck & Trailer Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician is strongly preferred.
- Experience repairing and maintaining Class 8 trucks, tractors, and semi-trailers.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and trailer systems.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and heavy-duty shop equipment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift heavy components and perform physically demanding work when required.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to urgent maintenance or roadside repair requirements when necessary.
- A valid driver's licence is an asset.
- Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Mechanic certification and/or relevant apprenticeship training is an asset.
