Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Piano and/or Drums Instructor to inspire and nurture musical talents in students of all ages. In this role, you will deliver engaging, personalized lessons that foster a love for music while developing technical skills, confidence, and creativity. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help students build a lifelong appreciation for music, and you'll play a key role in converting first lessons into ongoing registrations through our demo lesson process. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through agile teaching and mentorship. Available Thursdays and Saturdays.
Duties
- Design and deliver customized piano and/or drums lessons tailored to each student's skill level, interests, and learning pace
- Study and implement our demo lesson process to convert first lessons into ongoing registrations
- Create a positive, motivating environment that encourages students to explore their musical potential
- Prepare students for performances, recitals, or exams by guiding practice routines and providing constructive feedback
- Incorporate music theory, technique, rhythm exercises, and improvisation into lessons to enhance musical understanding
- Track student progress regularly and communicate achievements or challenges with parents, guardians, and staff when appropriate
- Maintain a safe, organized teaching space that promotes effective learning and a welcoming studio vibe
- Support early childhood education by adapting teaching methods to engage young learners effectively
- Stay current with effective teaching practices and tools
Qualifications & Nice-to-Haves
- Post-secondary music training and/or equivalent teaching experience
- Proven experience tutoring or teaching piano and/or drums to diverse age groups, especially children
- Strong background in music performance and instruction with demonstrated classroom experience
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and techniques for engaging young learners
- Skilled with young beginners (ages 5+) and adapting to diverse learning needs; experience with students with special learning needs is an asset
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain musical concepts and provide constructive feedback
- Reliable with time management and lesson prep
- Able to transpose/arrange simple parts on the spot for song requests
- Familiarity with RCM (piano or drums) is a plus
- Able to commute to Langley
Availability
- Thursdays and Saturdays required
