As Fabian’s Fort Contractors continues to grow, the Business Development Officer will help identify new construction, contracting, subcontracting, commercial, Indigenous community, and industrial opportunities while representing the company professionally with clients, contractors, procurement teams, industry partners, and community organizations.

Responsibilities

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, client outreach, procurement channels, and industry relationships.
- Develop and maintain robust relationships with prospective clients, contractors, partners, Indigenous communities, procurement representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Identify upcoming construction projects, tenders, RFQs, RFPs, subcontracting opportunities, and potential long-term service agreements.
- Prepare professional proposals, presentations, capability statements, expressions of interest, and business-development materials tailored to client needs.
- Conduct client meetings and presentations to promote Fabian’s Fort Contractors’ capabilities and services.
- Collaborate with ownership and internal teams to develop growth strategies aligned with the company’s long-term objectives.
- Research industry trends, upcoming projects, competitor activity,



and emerging opportunities within construction and industrial markets.
- Develop strategic partnerships, subcontracting relationships, and potential joint-venture opportunities.
- Negotiate terms and support the closing of new business agreements while protecting the interests of the company.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective clients, opportunities, follow-ups, and proposals.
- Track business-development activity using CRM or internal tracking systems and provide regular updates to management.
- Attend industry conferences, networking events, supplier events, community meetings, and other business-development opportunities on behalf of Fabian’s Fort Contractors.
- Support client retention and help develop long-term repeat-business relationships.
- Promote Fabian’s Fort Contractors as a professional, reliable, Indigenous-owned construction and contracting company.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in business development, sales, account management, procurement, construction, industrial services, Indigenous relations, or a related role.
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to communicate professionally with clients, senior leadership, contractors, procurement personnel, and community representatives.
- Ability to research markets, identify opportunities, and understand client requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads, proposals, and business opportunities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with company ownership and operational teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, email,



presentations, and general business-development tools.
- Self-motivated, professional, dependable, and results-oriented.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is preferred.

Assets

The following would be considered strong assets:

- Experience within construction, oil sands, industrial maintenance, civil work, or general contracting.
- Knowledge of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and surrounding industrial markets.
- Existing relationships within the Wood Buffalo construction or industrial sectors.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, or economic-development organizations.
- Experience responding to RFQs, RFPs, tenders, and procurement opportunities.
- Familiarity with contractor prequalification and vendor-registration processes.
- Understanding of joint ventures, subcontracting arrangements, and strategic partnerships.

Candidates should be transparent regarding their experience and demonstrate a clear understanding of the process involved in developing a lead from initial contact through relationship development, proposal preparation, negotiation, and successful contract award.
