Overview

LabTest Certification Inc. is looking for an experienced Engineer to join our team as a Project Manager in the Hazardous Locations – Electrical Department.

This is a full-time position based in Oakville, Ontario. The role involves testing and certification of products used in potentially explosive environments, including Oil & Gas, Mining, Refineries, Paint Shops, Flour Mills, Gas Stations, and other similar industries.

Certification work may include areas such as Intrinsic Safety, Explosion-proof, and Increased Safety.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

- Complete construction evaluations.
- Read and evaluate electrical products to CSA, UL, IEC, and ISO/EN standards.
- Prepare test procedures based on applicable standards.
- Prepare test setups and conduct testing.
- Prepare test reports, including ExTRs, ATEX, Certification/Listing, and Technical Reports.
- Communicate with clients regarding product evaluations.
- Conduct factory inspections and assessments when required, including local and international travel.
- Conduct QAR & QAN Assessments and Manufacturing Factory Assessments.
- Complete general administrative work related to projects.
- Provide customer service and assist with laboratory organization.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

- 3+ years of direct industry-related experience in a technical field.
- A 2-year Diploma in Electrical Technology or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.




- Experience using testing and measuring equipment and hand tools.
- A strong technical mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- A valid passport, as travel may be required.
- Experience evaluating and testing electrical equipment to applicable IEC/CSA 61010 standards, including IEC/CSA 61010-1 and relevant Part 2 standards.
- Experience with field inspections, special inspections, and SPE-1000 evaluations is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with CSA, UL, IEC, ISO/EN, and hazardous-location standards is an asset.

Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
