W.R. Davis Engineering Ltd (Davis) is a energetic mid-sized company specializing in the design of infrared (IR) signature solutions for both naval and aerospace platforms. We are currently seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to complement our skilled team in our Ottawa office. This candidate will assist with stress analysis and collaborate with other divisions within the company to deliver products to our customers.

Your day-to-day will consist of:

- Performing stress analysis of Davis product in order to ensure that it will pass stringent military or civil aviation design standards and qualification testing.
- Writing reports documenting work.
- Working with mechanical designers to integrate the product into specific platforms and produce drawings for the manufacture of the components.
- Interface with various groups inside and outside Davis to ensure the successful completion of the design.

We are ideally looking for someone who has:

- An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 4-7 years experience conducting structural analysis using hand calculations and finite element analysis
- Thorough understanding of the mechanics of materials and engineering statics




- Understanding of dynamic and fatigue calculations
- Experience in a fabrication environment
- Ability to communicate well in the English language, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to break down high-level direction into discrete problems to be solved
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and tolerancing
- Read and understand technical specifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Controlled Goods and NATO Secret clearance

Considered an asset:

- Experience with ANSYS FE
- Experience in an aerospace environment
- Experience in an aerospace structural analysis role would be a strong asset
- Graduate degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience with SolidWorks CAD
- Familiarity with welded and riveted joints
- Professional designation (ie, P.Eng)

Pay: $78,000.00-$108,000.00 per year
