College Heights Veterinary Clinic is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and experienced Veterinarian Technician to join our full time, permanent team in Prince George, BC.
Education
Completion of a two- or three-year animal health or veterinary technology college program.
Experience
- Two- to three years of experience in a similar veterinary position.
- Experience with animal emergencies, triage, surgical procedures, anesthesia, and patient recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate and professional nursing care to patients.
- Prepare patients, surgical suites, and instruments for surgical procedures and assist the veterinarian during surgery.
- Assist with sedation and anesthesia, monitor patients during procedures, and support post-anesthetic recovery.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Collect blood and other diagnostic samples and assist with laboratory testing.
- Produce diagnostic radiographs and assist with other diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures.
- Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients and provide nursing care, bandaging, wound care, and rehabilitation support as required.
- Assist with triage and emergency cases.
- Safely handle and restrain patients to allow veterinarian to perform examinations and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
- Welcome clients, answer general questions, and escort clients and patients to examination rooms.
- Answer telephone calls and assist with patient admission for surgeries and hospitalization.
- Ensure client communications are handles promptly and referred to the appropriate veterinarian or staff member when required.
- Provide client education regarding animal health care as directed by the veterinarian.
- Assist with stocking, equipment care, and organization of treatment and service areas.
- Set up, clean, and maintain surgical, CT, MRI, examination, and other clinical areas.
- Maintain a clean, protected, and organized clinical environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with blood collection and laboratory testing.
- Experience with diagnostic radiography.
- Experience assisting with abdominal and cardiac ultrasound procedures.
- Experience preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
- Experience assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures.
- Experience with sedation, anesthesia, patient monitoring, and recovery.
- Experience in veterinary cytology.
- Strong organizational and time – management skills.
- Strong client service and communication skills.
- Experience completing documentation related to patient admission and discharge, estimates, invoices, and deposits.
- Ability to lift up to 22kg.

- Schedule: Monday to Friday 08:25 am to 5:25 pm, with on -call shifts as required.
