JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support student learning, behaviour, inclusion, safety, and well-being under the direction of the classroom teacher and/or school administration, in alignment with the BC curriculum and Gobind Sarvar School’s values.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support classroom instruction, assignments, and learning activities under the direction of the teacher.
Provide one-to-one or small-group assistance and reinforce teacher-directed learning strategies.
Support students with diverse learning, behavioural, communication, and developmental needs, including approved accommodations and support plans.
Encourage participation, organization, self-regulation, and age-appropriate independence while avoiding unnecessary dependence.
Reinforce classroom expectations, positive behaviour strategies, and approved behavioural interventions.
Actively supervise assigned students and support safety during classroom activities, transitions, recess, field trips, and school events.
Provide appropriate personal care, mobility, hygiene, meal, communication, and daily-living support where required and properly trained.
Maintain required records and communicate relevant academic, behavioural, safety, and wellbeing observations to the teacher or administration.
Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, support staff, and families as directed, while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Follow school policies, safety procedures, and lawful directions; participate in required training and professional development; and contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive school environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory:
Bachelor’s degree in Education
Excellent English Communication Skills required (Verbal & Written)
Preferred:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and computer literacy skills necessary for lesson planning and record keeping
Certification of Qualification mandatory (Should have COQ ready)
Experience working with children or adolescents with disabilities or special education needs is a plus
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Demonstrated leadership qualities and time management skills to support student success effectively
Pay: $18.25-$23.11 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
