FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVE

Dependent on license designation the petroleum installer provides environmentally sound and safe installation, removal, testing and repair of underground, aboveground or submersed pumps, tanks, dispensers, and related equipment and systems.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The Petroleum Installer is accountable to the Construction/Project Manager as well as the Site Supervisor as applicable. They are responsible for the supervision and labour services related to the protected installation of petroleum equipment and construction of petroleum facilities.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Petroleum Installer receives general direction from the Site Supervisor or Project Manager and relies on experience and reliable judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The individual can work well independently as well as collaborate successfully to carry out responsibilities. The successful candidate will be willing to take on the site supervisor responsibilities as necessary. The successful candidate will hold NS PST Installer Class 1 License, a petroleum mechanic license from another province or equivalent certification.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Underground Installations & Removals

o Install underground tanks

o Remove underground tanks

o Install petroleum transfer systems

o Repair and maintain systems for detecting leaks and monitoring tanks

o Install and remove submersible pumps

· Above ground Installations

· Install aboveground tanks

· Remove aboveground tanks

· Repair and maintain systems for detecting leaks and monitoring tanks

· Install, remove, repair and maintain bulk handling equipment

· Provide mentorship to less experienced team members





· Lead by example

· Assign individual tasks

· Maintaining work standards, safety practices and behavioral expectations to ensure team confidence and productivity

· Report on job progress

· Promote and encouraging a positive teamwork attitude

· May be responsible to take on the role as site supervisor based on the direction of the project manager or construction manager

Other

· Demonstrates a high degree of loyalty to the company

- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
- Assist in the accomplishment of site / project goals.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

- Familiar with safe work practices and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
- Manual Dexterity: Repeated and coordinated use of your arms, hands, wrists, and fingers to use handheld tools
- Physical Strength and stamina: Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to hold, push, pull, lift and carry heavy items
- Ability to use proper lifting techniques to lift items weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work with others in a team




- Ability to operate required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Technical and mechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be motivated, hardworking and possess initiative
- Good organization and mentoring skills
- First aid experience would be an asset

QUALIFICATIONS

- High School diploma
- Certified Licensed Petroleum Installer Class 1 (Nova Scotia), NS PST Installer Class 1 License, a petroleum mechanic license from another province or equivalent certification.
- Trade Certifications as required
- Equipment operator training/certification considered an asset
- Experience in a site supervisor role considered an asset
- 2 – 10 years related experience
- Must be willing to learn and be open to completing required safety training, or industry standard training to advance knowledge and be successful
- Must successfully complete drug and alcohol testing
- Experience in construction, industrial and/or petroleum industry is required
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Travel is required. Candidates must be free to travel locally, nationally and potentially internationally to support the diverse and wide spread work/contracts our client supports
- Valid Canadian passport or ability to obtain one
