Violin Teachers – 2026–2027 Academic Year

Nirvana Academy of Violin is hiring dedicated, passionate, and highly professional violin teachers in Calgary for the 2026–2027 academic year. Positions are available immediately.

We are Calgary’s only specialized violin academy and a high-standard educational centre devoted exclusively to violin instruction and the musical development of our students.

Pay: CA$30–CA$45 per hour

Job type: Part-time, with opportunities to build additional teaching hours

Schedule: Flexible

Location: In person in Calgary

Start date: Immediately

Who We Are Looking For

Our immediate priority is experienced senior violin teachers. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in violin performance, music education, or a university music program with a strong violin focus is strongly preferred for senior applicants.

We also welcome applications from promising junior and advanced-junior violin teachers who demonstrate strong musicianship, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm for teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

- Qualifications may range from RCM Level 9 or comparable demonstrated ability through a bachelor’s or master’s degree in music, violin performance, music education, or a related field

- At least one year of violin teaching experience is preferred. Exceptional junior applicants with less experience may demonstrate readiness through an audition

- Strong violin technique, musicality, and knowledge of music theory

- The ability to explain musical and technical concepts clearly

- Excellent communication and organizational skills

- A professional, dependable, patient, caring, and encouraging teaching style

- A genuine passion for teaching and sharing the joy of music

- A sincere commitment to each student’s growth and long-term musical development

Junior and Advanced-Junior Applicants

Advanced violinists who are beginning their teaching careers are encouraged to apply.

A formal violin certificate is helpful but is not required.

Applicants without a certificate may be invited to complete a violin performance or teaching audition to demonstrate their technique, musicianship, teaching potential, and music-theory knowledge.

Applicants may qualify through a range of musical education and experience—from RCM Level 9 or a comparable playing standard to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in music. Equivalent ability may be demonstrated through an audition.
