The Kaslo Hotel is looking for a Housekeeper to help keep our historic lakeside property clean, comfortable, and ready to welcome guests. Located on the shore of Kootenay Lake and surrounded by the Purcell and Selkirk Mountains, the hotel has 17 guest rooms as well as The Waypoint Restaurant & Bar. We take pride in offering a warm, well-kept place for travelers and our community.

This is a hands-on role for someone who notices the details. You will clean and reset guest rooms, maintain public areas, and help ensure each part of the hotel feels cared for from the moment a guest arrives. We are looking for someone dependable, effective, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a small team.As Housekeeper, you will work closely with the hotel management and front-of-house team to keep daily operations moving smoothly. Your work will have a direct impact on the guest experience, especially on busy turnover days when rooms need to be cleaned, inspected, and ready on time. Most importantly, you will take pride in creating rooms that feel genuinely welcoming. That means more than making beds and restocking supplies. It means seeing what needs attention, following through, and helping maintain the character and standards of the Kaslo Hotel.

What we are looking for

The right candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable with physical work. Previous hotel housekeeping or professional cleaning experience is preferred, but we are open to someone with a strong work ethic who is willing to learn our standards and routines.You should be able to work at a steady pace without cutting corners. You should care about cleanliness, respect guest privacy, and communicate clearly when a room needs maintenance or additional attention.



You do not need to know everything on day one, but you do need to be dependable, take direction well, and be willing to help wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities

- Clean, reset, and prepare the hotel’s 17 guest rooms to a consistent standard, including making beds, changing linens, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, and restocking amenities.
- Inspect rooms after cleaning and report maintenance concerns, damaged items, missing supplies, or other issues promptly.
- Maintain clean, tidy, and welcoming public areas, including entrances, hallways, stairwells, common washrooms, and staff spaces.
- Collect, sort, and manage soiled linen and towels, and support laundry duties as assigned.
- Keep housekeeping carts, supply rooms, and cleaning equipment organized, clean, and stocked for daily use.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely, following hotel procedures and workplace health and safety standards.
- Respect guest privacy and handle lost-and-found items according to hotel procedures.
- Coordinate with the front desk and management team regarding room status, early arrivals, late checkouts, and priority cleaning needs.
- Help maintain clean and orderly back-of-house areas that support the hotel and restaurant operation.
- Take ownership of details, address concerns early, and contribute to a respectful,



practical team environment.Qualifications
- Previous hotel housekeeping, janitorial, or professional cleaning experience is an asset.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain quality in a quick-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to cleanliness.
- Ability to follow checklists, safety procedures, and established cleaning standards.
- Physical ability to lift and carry supplies, push carts, bend, reach, stand, and move throughout the shift.
- Dependability, good time management, and a willingness to work independently.
- Clear and respectful communication skills.
- A professional, positive attitude and a commitment to guest service.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and busy summer periods.
