Position Title: Recreation Attendant (Must be Local)

Location: 75 White Point #2, Hunts Point, Nova Scotia, Canada

Reports To: Recreation, Leisure & Retail Manager

Resort Division: Resort Services

Employment Type: Part-Time

Position Overview:

Promoting a fun and relaxing environment for guests of all ages, this role reports directly to the Recreation, Leisure, and Retail Manager and/or Recreation Assistant Manager. As an attendant, you are responsible for maintaining the recreation areas for guests and assisting in program development, facilitation, and review.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develops new and overhauls old recreational programs for guests of all ages
- Plans and leads recreational programs on-site as part of group or independently
- Works closely with children and families to provide a memorable experience
- Assists in running special events throughout the year
- Assists in leading group experiences and corporate bookings
- Evaluates programs and tracks participant numbers
- Maintains high degree of cleanliness of work area (pools, change rooms, corridors, grounds, storage areas, games room, and Kids’ Zone)
- Monitors for unsafe or disruptive behaviour in pool and other areas of the department, remedying when necessary
- Maintains and organizes recreation supplies and equipment
- Maintains high level of communication with colleagues and guests
- Alerts supervisors of low stock levels within department
- Coordinates with peers to achieve department and individual goals
- Adheres to established resort standards, policies, and procedures
- Follows established sign in/out procedures and updates availability in timely manner
- Adheres to resort’s grooming standards
- Reports to work on time and in full uniform




- Answers department telephone in clear and professional manner
- Attends department/training meetings
- Provides efficient and attentive service to guests
- Maintains knowledge of services offered by the resort
- Creates welcoming atmosphere to people of all backgrounds
- Brings a sense of creativity, fun, resourcefulness, and joy to the department and to every guest that walks through our doors
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Assists in other areas of hotel as requested

Qualifications:

- WHMIS
- First Aid
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Criminal Records/Vulnerable Sector check may be required
- Additional training or courses in childhood education, art, teaching, outdoor education, or customer service considered an asset

Working Conditions:

● Must be able to work flexible schedule including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

● Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance

● Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift

● Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling

● Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces

● Should be comfortable interacting with both individuals as well as speaking in front of large groups
