JOB DESCRIPTION

Must have's:

- Rank in order?
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Eligible for P.Eng registration with EGBC
- Exclude EITs
- years of engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with SCADA systems and OT environments
- Real time operations experience
- Previous Energy Management System Experience or SCADA (tech: Surveillance + Aspenteck experience)
- Knowledge of telecommunications, networking, and industrial control systems
- Experience with system troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance
- Project management experience (budgeting, scheduling, risk management)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Pluses:

- Knowledge of transmission/distribution operations

Description:

- Tell me about the day to day of the role:
- The SCADA Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of SCADA and Operational Technology (OT) systems supporting utility operations. This role provides technical expertise for real-time monitoring, communications, networking, system reliability, and infrastructure projects while supporting operations, asset management, and system performance initiatives.




- Working directly in control centre with 2 FTE SCADA technicians doing changes
- Peer review + approval of changes to real time scada system
- Developing standards/procedures/review sign off/internal controls how changes are made in real time scada system
- Regular patch/upgrade, testing/approving changes as they go through
- More detailed programming command sequences + automation processes in the scada system

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight and engineering support for SCADA and OT systems used in real-time operations.
Partner directly with operations and SCADA technicians to implement and maintain system changes.
Review, approve, and validate modifications to production SCADA environments.
Develop and maintain engineering standards, procedures, governance controls, and change management processes.
Support system upgrades, patching activities, testing, and commissioning efforts.
Troubleshoot and resolve SCADA, communications, networking, and control system issues.
Design and implement automation routines, command sequences, and system enhancements.
Lead or support infrastructure and technology projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system performance, reliability,



and operational efficiency.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Engineering.
Eligible for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
EITs will not be considered.
3+ years of engineering experience.
Hands-on experience with SCADA systems and Operational Technology (OT) environments.
Experience supporting real-time operations environments.
Previous Energy Management System (EMS) or SCADA experience, including exposure to platforms such as AspenTech or similar technologies.
Knowledge of telecommunications, networking, and industrial control systems.
Experience with system troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance.
Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
Solid analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEExperience within the utility, energy, or critical infrastructure sector.
Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution operations.
Experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), microwave radio systems, or utility communications networks.
Familiarity with OT cybersecurity principles and industrial network architecture.
Previous IT infrastructure or operational technology support experience.
Experience supporting software, servers, and operational technology environments.
Familiarity with vendor management and project controls.
Experience working in highly regulated, mission-critical operational environments.

Pay: $70.00-$138,029.73 per hour
