Essential functions
Working under the direction of the Territory Manager, the Senior Estimator’s essential functions are as follows:
1. Prepare accurate, complete, and timely estimates for emergency, mitigation, contents, and repair scopes using Xactimate;
2. Prepare estimates in Symbility where required by the carrier or program;
3. Develop and design the scope of work for new insurance claims from field documentation, photos, sketches, moisture readings, and site notes;
4.
Review draft scopes with the Project Manager or Territory Manager prior to submission and revise as required;
5. Ensure every estimate complies with the applicable insurer service agreement, program guidelines, and pricing rules;
6. Request, review, and follow up on subtrade quotes, and incorporate approved pricing into the estimate;
7. Submit estimates through carrier platforms (XactAnalysis, Symbility, and client portals) and respond promptly to carrier questions, rejections, and revision requests;
8. Read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and field reports;
9. Meet or exceed gross profit margin targets on each estimate and identify opportunities to reduce cost without reducing scope;
10. Ensure all scopes are consistent with the Ontario Building Code, IICRC guidelines, and health and safety requirements;
11. Attend site inspections and re-scopes when required;
12. Prepare supplements and change orders as projects progress and additional damage is identified;
13. Maintain accurate and up-to-date file notes and documentation on all open estimates;
14. Track estimate turnaround times and support each branch in meeting carrier KPIs and cycle time targets;
15. Support Project Managers and Territory Managers across multiple offices with consistent scoping and estimating practices;
16. Work with internal staff and subtrades in a professional manner;
17. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergency losses;
18. Other duties as assigned.
Physical requirements and working conditions
- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on Fridays;
- Primarily office-based,
with site attendance as required;
- Sustained periods of sitting and computer work;
- Occasional site inspections requiring standing, walking, bending, and the use of personal protective equipment;
- Availability to respond to 24-hour emergency situations during rotating on-call status.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate, with strong written communication skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines with little direct supervision.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience using Xactimate (required);
- Minimum 1 year of estimating experience using Symbility (required);
- Minimum 5 years of restoration or construction experience (required);
- Completion of a Construction or Engineering Technology program diploma or certificate;
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code;
- DASH/Xcelerate, XactAnalysis, and Encircle experience considered an asset;
- IICRC certification (WRT, FSRT, ASD) considered an asset;
- Valid Ontario driver’s license;
- Ability to pass a background check.

Pay: $85,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
