Senior Mechanical Assembly Technician

At Thermal Intelligence, we don't just build equipment — we build smarter, cleaner energy solutions. As a proudly Alberta-based Clean Technology manufacturer, our award-winning product (a 3-in-1 Heater, Light Tower & Generator) is redefining how temporary industrial heating and power are delivered in the field.

We are seeking a professional with a proven mechanical background to join our growing production team. This role goes well beyond basic assembly. We are looking for a mechanically strong technician with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, improve, and take ownership of our mechanical assembly department. This position is ideal for someone who wants to become a go-to mechanical expert within a fast-growing clean-tech organization.

As a Senior Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will lead genset assembly of our diesel-powered generator systems and mechanical components that support our advanced heating technology. Working as part of a close-knit production team, you'll contribute to building industry-leading equipment while helping solve real-world mechanical challenges.

One thing worth knowing going in:

We build one product, and this role means building the same genset unit every day, not switching between different products or jobs. If you like knowing what your day looks like and want to get really good at one build, this is a good fit. We still need every unit to get the same care and attention as the last one, so this isn't a role for coasting.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform full assembly of diesel-powered gensets, including wiring harness installation

- Provide leadership to the assembly team, including task assignment and daily direction
- Coordinate incoming materials and components to keep the build line running without delays
- Own build quality — inspect your own work and your team's, catching issues before units move to test
- Perform start-up testing and commissioning on completed units
- Track and meet production deadlines for mechanical assembly
- Develop and maintain assembly documentation as part of growing out the department's processes and standards
- Provide occasional support on service or repair work for units already in the field
- Identify recurring issues and contribute ideas to improve the build process

What We're Looking For

- Trades ticket, or proven equivalent experience (no apprentices)
- Leadership experience
- Solid hands-on mechanical assembly experience — engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, wiring harnesses
- Basic electrical troubleshooting ability
- General computer proficiency, including comfort with tools like Excel or Adobe for documentation work (specific programs can be taught)
- High attention to detail and consistency — someone who holds the same standard on unit 500 as unit one

- A mindset suited to repetitive work that demands a high degree of consistency, paired with the flexibility to adjust when priorities shift
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence

Beneficial Qualifications

- Prior manufacturing or fabrication shop experience
- Advanced Excel, Adobe, or documentation software skills
- Forklift certification
- First aid training

Why You'll Love Working Here

- Stable, full-time employment with a growing cleantech company
- Comprehensive benefits plan (health, dental, & vision – shared cost)
- Paid vacation + statutory holidays
- On-site parking and a modern production facility
- Ongoing skills training and professional development
- A team environment built on integrity, innovation, and mutual respect
