Alfidome Construction Niagara is a Civil Contractor operating since 1979. We specialize in Private & Municipal Civil Infrastructure Projects throughout the Niagara Region. We deal with Road and Sewer Construction, excavation, site servicing & demolition.

Job Summary:

A heavy equipment mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, dump trucks, and more in the repair shop or on the construction site. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all equipment is in optimal working condition to maximize efficiency, safety, and productivity on construction sites or other relevant workplaces.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. This includes checking fluid levels, lubricating moving parts, and replacing worn or damaged components.

Diagnosis: Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in heavy machinery using diagnostic tools and equipment.

Repair: Perform repairs and replacements of faulty or damaged parts, components, and systems, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Welding and Fabrication: Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed to repair and modify equipment components.

Testing: Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality and address any remaining issues.





Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used, labor hours, and equipment history.

Safety: Follow and enforce safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a protected working setting for yourself and others.

Equipment Inspections: Conduct pre-use and post-use equipment inspections to identify potential problems and safety hazards.

Training: Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, tools, and techniques through ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education or certification in heavy equipment mechanics is a plus.

· Valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician Certificate of Qualification is preferred or 3rd Year Apprentice

· At least 5 years' experience as a licensed truck & coach mechanic.

- Solid knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other heavy equipment components.
- Welding and fabrication skills are an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good verbal and written communications.
- Robust attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- DZ license is an asset.
- CAT equipment knowledge is an asset.
- Small engine repair, pump, saws, tampers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
