Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Driver/Installer is scheduled for job deployment from our office in Calgary, Alberta. Working as part of a team under the supervision of our Lead Hands, the Driver/Installer is responsible for delivering architectural products and office furniture systems to various locations and assisting with the installation of products.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport goods and materials to designated locations
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts, hand trucks, or hand bombing.
- Use of hand and power tools
- Installation of furniture
- Follow delivery schedules and routes provided by the scheduler
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and perform basic maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels and tire pressure
- Ensure all necessary paperwork, such as delivery receipts and electronic logbooks, are completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must be 25 years of age for insurance purposes
- Proven experience as a driver or in a similar role
- Minimum of 5 years experience operating a 5-ton truck
- Previous furniture installation experience is required
- Ability to operate pump trucks or other relevant equipment safely
- Previous installation, carpentry, renovation or construction experience is required
- Ability to understand and execute instructions
- Mechanical aptitude including ability to use common hand tools and measurement equipment
- Basic arithmetic functions and accurate measurement skills
- Experience in reading, understanding and explaining blueprints, diagrams/ drawings is an advantage
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical stamina to handle loading/unloading of cargo and long hours on the road
