Required Experience
Previous restaurant Line Cook experience is mandatory.
Applicants must have professional restaurant kitchen experience. Applications from candidates without restaurant line cook experience may not be considered.
ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare vegetables, meats, seafood, soups, sauces, gravies, and other ingredients.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Hynes Restaurant recipes and standards.
- Work efficiently during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
- Operate grills, flat tops, fryers, ovens, steamers, and other kitchen equipment safely.
- Maintain consistency in food quality, portions, and presentation.
- Complete daily preparation and ensure ingredients are ready for service.
Kitchen Operations
- Keep your workstation clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Follow opening, closing, and cleaning procedures.
- Label, date, store, and rotate food using FIFO procedures.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with cooks, servers, supervisors, and management.
- Help minimize food waste and maintain proper portion control.
Food Safety
- Follow food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Monitor food temperatures and proper storage practices.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen at all times.
- Report equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns to management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of professional restaurant Line Cook experience.
- Breakfast cooking experience is a strong asset.
- Experience working in a high-volume or fast-paced kitchen is an asset.
- Strong understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy service.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to food quality and consistency.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Availability
Candidates should be available to work a variety of shifts, including:
- Early mornings
- Day shifts
- Evening shifts
- Weekends
- Holidays
Flexible availability is a strong asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
