Job Summary
I am looking for a personable Health Care Aid and Companion for my dad who is 80 and has vascular dementia. He is currently waiting for a placement in a long term care unit where you would be his one-to-one support person during daytime hours (flexible). I am looking for someone who is gentle, patient and understands dementia. He does best with calm and caring people who will take the time to listen and not make demands of him but instead learn to move with his timelines. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care, emotional support, and assistance with daily activities to promote independence, comfort, and well-being. Your approach and sweet nature will help create a warm, safe workplace for my dad as he adjusts to life in a care facility and where he will need someone to be his long term companion.
Duties
- Assist my dad with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming,
and mobility to enhance his comfort and physical well-being.
- Provide companionship by engaging in conversations, recreational activities, and emotional support to foster a positive environment.
- Assist with transfers and mobility support using proper techniques to ensure safety for both you and my dad.
Requirements
- Previous experience in nursing, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care or home care environments is required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide patient care with compassion and professionalism
- Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities, including dementia.
- Strong caregiving skills combined with gentle, calm and compassionate approaches.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
