About the Position

Our operators will play a critical role in the construction of the facility's interior underground piping systems and grading works.

The successful candidates will operate heavy equipment to support excavation, material handling, backfilling, rough and fine grading, and general underground construction activities.

Operators will work closely with our labourers, pipe crews, foremen, and other equipment operators to safely and efficiently complete the work.

Key ResponsibilitiesExcavator Operators

- Operate excavators for interior underground excavation
- Excavate trenches and prepare areas for underground piping
- Maintain proper excavation depths, slopes, and grades
- Load and move excavated materials
- Assist pipe crews with trench preparation and backfill operations
- Perform precision excavation around existing infrastructure and utilities where required
- Work closely with the grading crew to achieve required elevations
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report deficiencies





Loader Operators

- Operate loaders for material handling and site preparation
- Load, move, and place granular, soil, sand, and other construction materials
- Support excavation and backfill operations
- Maintain stockpiles and keep work areas organized
- Load trucks and move materials throughout the work area
- Assist grading crews with material placement
- Operate equipment safely around personnel and other machinery

Grading Operators

- Perform interior rough and fine grading
- Establish and maintain required elevations and slopes
- Grade granular and fill materials to project specifications
- Work closely with surveyors, foremen, and other operators to achieve required grades
- Complete precision grading around underground piping and structures
- Maintain proper drainage slopes and finished elevations
- Perform final grading and preparation for subsequent construction activities

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

- Be a Local 793 member or eligible to work under the applicable union agreement
- Have experience operating excavators, loaders, graders, or other heavy equipment
- Have experience working on underground construction projects — an asset
- Be comfortable performing precision excavation and grading
- Have a strong understanding of safe equipment operation
- Be reliable, punctual, and committed to showing up ready to work
- Take pride in operating equipment safely and efficiently
- Have strong communication skills and work well with a crew




- Be able to take direction from Foremen and Superintendents
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Treat equipment and company property with care
- Have a team-first mentality and solid work ethic
