Looking for steady Class 1 work without spending weeks at a time on the road? Alco Carriers is hiring an experienced Class 1 Flat Deck Driver to haul primarily tubular pipe and materials to oilfield and industrial locations throughout Alberta, with occasional longer-distance work.
Our drivers typically earn $72,000-$100,000 annually, average approximately 45-60 hours per week, and are assigned their own truck. The majority of our work allows drivers to return home regularly, making this a strong opportunity for an experienced driver looking for earning potential and a predictable, family-friendly schedule.
What You Can Expect
· $35.00/hour starting wage with an increase of up to 8.5% after 3 Months
·Signing bonus eligibility after 5 Months ($500)

The Work
You'll primarily haul tubular pipe and other materials to oilfield and industrial locations using flat deck equipment. Most work involves short-duration trips, with overnight assignments typically limited to one night when required. Longer multi-night assignments occasionally arise, including work into Saskatchewan.
When overnight stays are required, drivers generally stay in their equipped truck. Where this isn't appropriate, pre-arranged camp accommodations are provided.
Weekend work varies based on seasonal and operational demand, with a premium applied to eligible weekend work.
What You'll Be Doing
· Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles on highways, oilfield roads and off-road job sites
· Transport tubular pipe, equipment and materials to industrial and oilfield locations
· Properly secure flat deck loads using chains, binders, straps and other securement equipment
· Install and use tire chains when road and weather conditions require them
· Complete pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections
· Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports and required transportation documentation
· Identify and promptly report maintenance concerns, incidents and safety hazards
· Work professionally with customers, dispatch, site personnel and fellow drivers
· Follow applicable transportation regulations and company safety procedures
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced driver who is comfortable with the realities of industrial and oilfield transportation.
· Valid Alberta Class 1 Driver's Licence
· Minimum 5 years of applicable commercial driving experience to meet insurance requirements
· Minimum 3 years of flat deck experience
· Demonstrated experience hauling and securing flat deck loads
· Experience installing and operating with tire chains
· Experience driving in off-road, oilfield or industrial environments
· Strong knowledge of chains, binders, straps and load-securement requirements
· Safe and defensive driving practices
· Reliability, professionalism and valuable communication skills
· Ability to work independently and adapt to changing road, site and weather conditions
*Asset: Experience hauling tubular pipe, oilfield materials, construction equipment or similar industrial loads.
