Macchiato Caffe Ltd is a locally owned and operated family of cafes located in Victoria’s old town and business district. In business almost 19 years, our customer base spans generations. Our mission is to deliver superior coffee and teas, warm hospitality, and inspired breakfast and lunch options.

Summary

These are permanent year-round positions, part time and full time - stable, reliable employment. This not suitable for someone seeking summer seasonal employment only. There are no evenings required, however we do require weekend availability as we have expanded into 7 days a week.

Employment with Macchiato would ideally suit someone who has a real love of working with food, coffees and tea, AND a deep appreciation for interacting with customers! Previous work history in the food service industry is essential.

If you are currently in a deli or food prep position and looking for more opportunity to engage with customers, this could be an ideal fit. Prior POS experience would go a long way to help with the transition.

Strong English language communication skills are essential, as well as related work experience. Sorry, but you must currently reside in the local area as we are looking to fill these positions at the earliest opportunity. We are not currently accepting applications from anyone outside of Canada

Responsibilities

- Be a service champion! Thrive on creating positive customer experiences.




- Assist customers with their orders and provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items.
- Prepare and/or serve our product according to established recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the POS system. POS experience is ideal.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations during food preparation and service.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery

Requirements

- Previous experience in food service is essential.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transactions.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Saturday availability as required
- Availability throughout the year, this is not seasonal employment.
