Personal Support Worker - Mount Forest, ON - CAD$156.00/week

Description

About the Clients:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a couple in their home in Oak Forest, located about 45 minutes from Listowel. The grandfather is very receptive to receiving care and needs assistance with various daily activities. He experiences motor issues and has had occasional falls. He requires help with personal grooming tasks like nail clipping, which he hasn't been able to manage independently for several months. The grandmother is more hesitant about accepting help but would benefit from support in certain areas. She experiences motor difficulties and some memory challenges. Both clients speak English and the grandmother typically doesn't wake until around noon.

Responsibilities:

The caregiver will provide personal care support including toileting and hygiene assistance, particularly for the grandfather. Meal preparation is needed for both clients. Light housekeeping duties include cleaning and laundry. The caregiver should be prepared to assist with grooming tasks such as nail care. Occasional transportation for errands or appointments may be required. The caregiver should be attentive to fall risks and provide appropriate supervision and support with mobility as needed. Companionship is important as the clients seem lonely and would benefit from positive social interaction.

What We're Looking For:

We need someone who is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to the home. The ideal caregiver will be comfortable working with clients who have varying levels of acceptance regarding care - one who is very welcoming and another who may be resistant. Experience with personal care, particularly toileting support, is essential. The caregiver should be reliable, consistent,

and able to take initiative when needed. Clear communication with family members is significant. A valid driver's license is required for occasional transportation needs. The caregiver should respect the clients' independence while providing necessary support. Experience caring for multiple clients simultaneously and working with individuals who have motor difficulties and memory changes is preferred.

Schedule:

This position requires afternoon visits twice per week, with shifts starting after noon to accommodate the grandmother's schedule. Each visit should be at least three hours in duration. The family would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the specific situation and family dynamics with the caregiver before care begins.
