Day Shift: Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 4 PM

Summary:

We are a manufacturing firm in Edmonton, AB seeking a Punch Press Operator to run and support punch press operations in our fast-paced shop. The successful candidate will set up and operate punch presses to produce parts to specification, working alongside the existing machine lead hand. Experience operating a punch press or similar production machinery is preferred, and training will be provided to the right candidate. Candidate must be reliable, punctual and safety-focused. Position reports directly to the Shop Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

- Set up and operate punch presses to produce parts to drawing and job specifications.
- Change punches, dies and tooling, and make adjustments to hold part quality through a run.
- Load and change material, empty material bins and keep the press supplied, using the forklift as required.
- Monitor the press during operation and report unusual noise, wear or malfunction immediately.
- Inspect and measure finished work-pieces to determine conformance to specifications.
- Daily report on shift activity results.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining production equipment for operation.
- Handle and move materials and pieces, using lifting devices as required.
- Participate in daily/weekly preventative maintenance.
- Removing scrap metal from the shop.
- Handling weight up to 50 lbs.




- Knowledge and ability to use various hand tools and power tools.
- Maintains clean workstation and machine.
- Maintain and follow safe work procedures, including machine guarding and lockout/tagout.
- General labour duties as assigned.

Skills / Qualifications:

- Excellent work ethic and an excellent attitude with the ability to learn quickly.
- Positive professional attitude, a strong desire to work as a team.
- Strong attention to detail is essential.
- Mechanical knowledge.
- Experience operating a punch press or similar production machinery is preferred; training will be provided.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings and job travellers.
- Comfortable using measuring tools such as a tape measure and calipers to check parts.
- Forklift certified, or willing to become certified.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs, without assistance.

Pay: $17.90-$24.00 per hour
