Job Overview
This position offers a combination of shop-based custom cabinetmaking and on-site installation, making it ideal for someone who enjoys taking a project from the shop through to a finished installation. The successful candidate will be involved in the full cabinetry process, including shop fabrication, assembly, finishing preparation, installation, and in office detailing.
You should be comfortable building cabinetry from drawings and specifications, working with a variety of materials, and producing clean, accurate work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Shop Cabinetmaking Responsibilities
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, cabinet shop drawings, elevations, and specifications
- Review plans and drawings for dimensions, materials, hardware, and construction details
- Accurately measure, mark, cut, and machine cabinet components
- Build custom cabinets, vanities, built-ins, wall units, closets, and other millwork
- Work with plywood, MDF, melamine, hardwood, veneer, laminate, and other cabinet materials
- Operate cabinetmaking machinery and power tools safely and accurately
- Use table saws, panel saws, routers, drills, sanders, and other woodworking equipment
- Edge-band and prepare components for assembly and installation
- Assemble cabinet boxes, doors, drawers, and specialty components
- Build face frames, frameless cabinetry, and custom components as required
- Install and adjust hinges, drawer slides, pulls, and other cabinet hardware
- Build and fit custom drawers and specialty storage solutions
- Produce accurate mitred, scribed, and detailed components
- Perform detailed sanding and preparation for finishing
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and site conditions before fabrication
- Maintain tight tolerances and consistent reveals throughout a project
- Complete quality-control checks before cabinetry leaves the shop
- Package and protect finished cabinetry and components for transportation to site
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and efficiently set up
- Maintain and properly care for tools, machinery, and equipment
On-Site Cabinet Installation
- Install custom cabinetry in high-end residential environments
- Accurately level, plumb, shim, scribe, and secure cabinetry
- Install cabinetry around walls, floors, ceilings, windows, appliances, and other existing conditions
- Install panels, fillers, toe kicks, moldings, trim, and finishing pieces
- Complete detailed scribing and fitting for an exceptionally clean finished appearance
- Install doors, drawers, hardware, and specialty accessories
- Make adjustments and modifications on site when required
- Protect finished surfaces, flooring, and surrounding areas during installation
- Leave each installation clean, complete, and ready for the next stage of construction
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years of professional cabinetmaking and/or installation experience
- Strong experience with custom residential cabinetry
- The ability to confidently build cabinetry from drawings
- Excellent understanding of cabinet construction and installation techniques
- Strong measuring, layout, and mathematical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of craftsmanship
- The ability to work accurately with tight tolerances
- Experience with both shop fabrication and on-site installation
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find practical solutions
- The ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- A professional attitude and excellent communication skills
- Pride in maintaining a clean and organized shop and job site
- Experience working in high-end or luxury residential renovations is an asset

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
