We are currently seeking an experienced Room Checker to join our team at the Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites Halifax Downtown. This position supports both hotel properties and plays an important role in ensuring exceptional cleanliness, service standards, and guest satisfaction.

Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager (or Executive Housekeeper), the Room Checkeris responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations, supporting team performance, and helping deliver an outstanding guest experience throughout the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of housekeeping, laundry, and housepersons teams
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, and public areas to ensure cleanliness and Hilton brand standards are consistently achieved
- Conduct daily room audits and quality checks for Housekeeping Room Attendants
- Support and develop team members through coaching, training, and performance management
- Deliver prompt, professional, and friendly guest service
- Address operational concerns proactively and implement effective solutions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment




- Ensure compliance with WHMIS, health & safety policies, and hotel procedures
- Participate actively in hotel health and safety initiatives
- Support environmental sustainability programs and policies
- Assist with departmental operations and assume Housekeeping Manager duties when required
- Perform additional related duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 1 year in housekeeping or hospitality
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Experience with Property Management Systems and Microsoft Office
- High school diploma or equivalent

Working Conditions

- Ability to push, pull, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced and physically demanding environment
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and housekeeping equipment
