Community Shuttle Driver — Senior Living Transportation
BW Wellness Transportation Inc. Ottawa full-time & part-time
Job summary
Join our team as a Community Shuttle Driver, where your dependability and warmth directly shape the day of every resident who steps aboard. BW Wellness provides safe, friendly, and reliable transportation for residents of senior living communities across Ottawa.
In this role you'll transport residents to appointments, outings, shopping trips, and community events, making each ride comfortable, punctual, and genuinely pleasant. Your eye for vehicle condition keeps the shuttle running smoothly; your patience and people skills make it a place residents look forward to being. If you're calm, dependable, and take pride in getting people where they need to go with care, we'd like to hear from you.
We're hiring for both bus routes and accessible van routes, in both regions. The mix of weekday shifts and shorter runs makes this a strong fit for semi-retired or experienced drivers looking for steady, meaningful work.
What you'll do
● Safely operate community shuttle vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies
● Transport residents to scheduled appointments, activities, errands, group outings, and community events
● Assist residents with boarding and exiting courteously, including passengers who use walkers, wheelchairs, or other mobility aids
● Operate lifts and ramps and ensure proper securement of wheelchairs and mobility devices on accessible vehicles
● Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic maintenance checks to keep vehicles safe and performing well
● Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and vehicle condition; report defects or mechanical issues immediately
● Communicate clearly with residents, families, community staff, and management to coordinate schedules and resolve concerns promptly
● Uphold a warm, patient, and qualified manner that makes every passenger feel cared for and valued
What you'll need
● Valid Ontario driver's licence Class E or F required for vehicles carrying more than 9 passengers.
● A satisfactory 3-year Ontario driver's abstract with a clean record
● A clear Vulnerable Sector police check — required for all staff who transport seniors (we can help coordinate this)
● Comfort working with, and communicating patiently with, older adults
● Reliable availability for scheduled shifts, including some flexibility across weekday daytime hours
● Eligibility to work legally in Canada
Assets (nice to have, not required)
● Prior customer service experience demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism
● Previous experience driving a shuttle, school bus, para-transit, or senior/community transport
● Experience operating wheelchair-accessible vehicles and passenger lifts
● Mechanical aptitude for basic checks and proactive troubleshooting
● Current First Aid / CPR certification.

● Training and certification support provided
Pay: $18.50-$28.00 per hour
