To ensure Sharon Village Care Homes standards are met in the Dietary Services Department by preparing and serving meals and snacks to the Residents.
· Meets provincial governing bodies and Sharon Village Care Homes standards for secure food handling, food preparation, food service and sanitation.
· Prepares meals and snacks following production sheets and standardized recipes
· Takes action and reports issues to the Director of Dietary Services (DDS)/ designate in a timely manner.
· Meets daily time constraints for meal and snack preparation
Responsible to:
Director of Food Services
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of food for Residents and guests.
· Reviews menus and production sheets before preparing meals, prepares and serves them properly and attractively.
· Ensures use of proper food handling techniques.
· Performs daily responsibilities using Infection control practices.
· Records all temperatures for fridges, freezers and storeroom daily on the audit form as outlined in dietary routine
· Prepares and serves foods for therapeutic diets according to planned menus.
· May be required to serve meals, following Resident’s diet and food preferences using proper portion sizes.
· Makes menu substitutions as necessary and records these in designated place.
· Meets time schedule for service of meals and nourishments.
· Dates, labels, and stores food properly
· Assists in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies.
· Monitors quality of food supplies received and advises DCS of problems.
· Reports food, supply, and equipment needs to DCS.
· Completes pre-start up equipment checks as necessary.
· Keeps work area clean and uncluttered, and completes scheduled cleaning duties.
· Alerts DCS to problems and makes recommendations about corrective action.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have Certification of Qualification as a Cook recognized through the Ministry of Training and Education, OR must have successfully completed a recognized Culinary Management program OR 6+ months restaurant experience.
Must also have Public health unit food handlers training certification
Pay: $24.08-$25.90 per hour
