Dental Sterilization & Clinical Floater
New Sudbury Dental is seeking a reliable, organized, and motivated Sterilization & Clinical Floater to join our dental team.
This position plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized clinical environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for instrument sterilization, infection prevention and control procedures, operatory turnover, inventory support, and assisting the clinical team throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Clean, disinfect, package, sterilize, and properly store dental instruments.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to office policies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Complete and document required sterilization monitoring, testing, and maintenance records.
- Follow current infection prevention and control standards.
- Prepare and restock treatment rooms with instruments, materials, and supplies.
- Clean and disinfect operatories between patients.
- Assist with room turnover as needed, to help the clinical schedule remain on time.
- Transport instruments and supplies safely throughout the clinical area.
- Monitor inventory levels and advise the appropriate team member when supplies need to be ordered.
- Receive, organize, and put away clinical supply deliveries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area, storage rooms, and clinical support areas.
- Assist dental assistants, hygienists, and dentists with non-clinical support tasks as required.
- Follow workplace health and safety, privacy,
and office policies.
- Complete additional duties to support the daily operation of the dental practice.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dental office, sterilization department, medical clinic, or healthcare environment is required.
- Knowledge of dental infection prevention and control procedures is required.
- Public Health Ontario IPAC online module completion an asset but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow established procedures.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Professional, positive, and willing to assist wherever needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry clinical supplies and equipment.
