Our mission is to enhance and develop appropriate resources and support for the Alexander First Nation members/residents by improving the quality of life through the promotion of independency and family unity.

Summary

Mamawatoskewin (Community Prevention) is a program administered under the supervision of Alexander Social Development. The purpose is aimed at improving the safety and holistic well-being of Alexander First Nation. This program focus’ on family violence prevention and community-based supports, ensuring services are culturally relevant and responsive to local needs. Mamawatoskewin is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic member to join our Youth mentorship program.

Core Responsibilities:

· Promote child and youth safety and well-being

· Provide one-on-one mentoring to guide youth through personal, social and academic challenges

· Develop and implement personalized mentoring plans tailored to each mentee’s goals and needs

· Service as a positive role model, demonstrating responsible behavior, empathy and a strong work ethic

· Provide resources such as mental health support, tutoring, etc.

· Maintain confidentiality with mentee

· Plan/lead engaging activities and workshops





· Assist mentee in setting and achieving academic, career and personal goals

· Maintain a current and up-to-date client file system for each youth

Required skills and qualifications:

· Certificate/ diploma in related field and/or extensive experience

· Proficient in Microsoft office products

· Experience working with high-risk youth

· Must have the ability to work independently

· Strong de-escalation skills

· Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others

· Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task

· Exhibit professional behavior

· Class 5 driver’s license

· Reliable vehicle

· Must produce a clear driver abstract, criminal record and child intervention check
