Lead Hand – Excavation & Site Prep

Elite Construction is hiring an experienced Lead Hand to oversee small crew operations on active construction sites. This hands-on role requires solid excavation experience, survey reading skills, and the ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment. Experience in water and sewer is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a small crew in daily site excavation and prep tasks
- Read and interpret site surveys and grades
- Operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other equipment as needed
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to spec
- Liaise with site supervisors to coordinate tasks and resolve issues
- Track equipment usage and material movement
- Train and support team members on safe, effective practices
Qualifications:
- 5+ years excavation and equipment operation experience
- Skilled in reading site layouts and grading plans
- Proficient with skid steers, loaders, backhoes, etc.
- Strong mechanical sense and troubleshooting ability
- Experience leading crews on active job sites
- Reliable, safety-focused, and strong communicator
