- Select and specify electrical components, including inverters, switchgear, transformers, and monitoring equipment
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications with attention to both constructability and compliance
- Apply working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (Part I) to design decisions

- Ensure technical accuracy of sales proposals and client-facing designs prior to client presentation

- Support takeoffs and estimating inputs with technical accuracy; the estimator retains ownership of final pricing
- Preparing as needed technical documentation for permitting, utility interconnection, bid packages, and client proposals or meetings
- Provide technical support to the compliance and project management team on interconnection and permit submissions

Field Troubleshooting & Monitoring

- Support troubleshooting electrical issues in the field, applying hands-on diagnostic experience
- Analyze remote monitoring data to identify performance anomalies
- Serve as a technical resource for staff and subcontractors on complex electrical questions

Qualifications

- Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technologist considered an asset
- 3 to 5 years experience as an electrical apprentice and/or journeyperson
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (Part I)
- Demonstrated ability to read drawings, identify issues, and reason through solutions independently required
- 1 to 3 years experience in the solar industry required
- Electrical trade understanding and a genuine drive to learn are required to succeed in this role

Work Environment

- A combination of office-based design work and on-site field support
- Ability to work outdoors in Alberta weather conditions and on commercial rooftops
- Ability to work at heights and lift up to 50 lbs
