Drake Excavating (2016) Ltd. is a rapidly growing civil construction company based in Maple Ridge, BC. We proudly offer year-round work throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and we're looking for a skilled Heavy-Duty Mechanic to help keep our fleet running strong.

Our diverse fleet includes excavators, backhoes, dump trucks, loaders, rollers, graders, horizontal grinders, and a variety of small trucks and tools—offering plenty of variety in your day-to-day tasks.

What You’ll Do

- Inspect and diagnose vehicles, equipment, and components to determine maintenance and repair needs
- Perform everything from routine preventative maintenance to major breakdown repairs, including diagnostics on; Heavy trucks and trailers, Horizontal grinders, Log loaders, Excavators, Forestry equipment
- Maintain equipment to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance
- Monitor and manage shop inventory (filters, lubricants, wear parts, etc.)
- Develop and execute maintenance plans with the Operations Manager
- Track and complete work orders, submitting records and reports to head office
- Communicate major or unexpected repairs with Operations Manager and head office
- Promote equipment uptime by planning maintenance outside operating hours when possible
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
- Complete all maintenance documentation accurately
- Assist with other related duties as required

Qualifications & Skills

- Heavy Duty Mechanical Red Seal Certification




- Minimum 4 years of heavy-duty mechanical experience
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing; Heavy trucks and trailers, Horizontal grinders, Log loaders, Excavators, Forestry equipment
- Robust ability to troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and read schematics
- Fabrication and welding experience, as well as emissions system knowledge, are strong assets
- Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Physically fit and able to work safely with heavy-duty tools
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, positive attitude, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Commercial truck repair experience is an asset but not required
- Basic computer skills are beneficial
