Job Description

Bar Filo is seeking an experienced, hands-on Head Chef to lead our kitchen and help shape the restaurant’s culinary direction. The ideal candidate is passionate about Italian cuisine, knowledgable, committed to consistency and quality, and capable of building a professional, respectful kitchen culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead all daily back-of-house operations and service execution
- Develop and refine seasonal, Italian-inspired dishes
- Maintain consistent flavour, presentation, portioning, and quality
- Create standardized recipes, prep lists, and kitchen procedures
- Manage purchasing, inventory, food costs, labour, and waste
- Recruit, schedule, train, and mentor kitchen employees
- Maintain excellent sanitation, food-safety, and workplace-safety standards
- Work actively on the line and lead calmly during busy services
- Collaborate closely with ownership and the front-of-house team

Qualifications





- At least three years of kitchen leadership experience as a Head Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or strong Sous Chef
- Robust knowledge of Italian ingredients, flavours, and cooking techniques
- Experience with menu development, recipe costing, inventory, and labour management
- Excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under pressure
- Valid Food Handler Certification
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
