This position serves as the Staff Accountant within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting team having responsibilities related to maintaining the books and records of various entities of the organization across multiple jurisdictions, which includes obtaining detailed knowledge of the company’s structure as well as cost center and profit center metrics for capturing and reporting revenues and expenses. Ensure financial information related to various corporate entities is maintained in a quality manner and is accurate, timely, complete, and in accordance with GAAP, agreements, and company policies Monitor fixed assets for additions and coordinate the depreciation of such assets with the Capital Accounting team Process and record distributions and contributions as needed for Realterm corporate entities Coordinate with external service providers and prepare the required supporting documentation requested for compliance, reporting, advisory or tax purposes, including GST/VAT filings in Europe,
APAC and other regions Calculate and post monthly equity flow through income/loss from investments Gather information from the various accounting teams to properly record, estimate, and budget expenses and revenues Set up new general ledger accounts and entities as needed Assist with gathering items for audits, ad hoc reporting, and budgeting as needed Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes for corporate entities by preparing and posting recurring and non-recurring journal entries, accruals, amortization, allocations, intercompany billings, and related adjustments. Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring activity is accurate, complete, properly supported, and reviewed within close deadlines.
Assist with variance analysis, and post-close follow-up to ensure financial reporting is complete, accurate, and aligned with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
Experience with the Yardi accounting system is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. Deadline-focused, detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects.
Team-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Effective communicator, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate with all staff and executive levels within the organization as well as with external service providers across the world. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. ~0 to 2 years of accounting experience preferred. ~ French is required.
Advanced written and spoken English are required. English is required for this role because the incumbent will regularly support and communicate with managers, employees, auditors, and other third parties located outside Québec, including English-speaking Canada, the United States, Europe, and APAC. Onsite days are in a general office setting.
The role may require travel of less than 5% annually to remote office locations based on organizational/business needs. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the workday, sitting at a desk, consistently operating a computer.
